Digital Video

This was probably the most intimidating assignment for me yet.  Before this class, I had absolutely no experience making a digital video. My first step was to decide which software to use since there are many great programs out there. I personally use a mac, so iMovie was my best choice. Then, I decided what I wanted to make a movie about. Since I am going to school to become a librarian, I wanted to make a book trailer. This summer, I had the opportunity to read The Diary of Anne Frank. If you haven't read it, you should! It was a very sad story to read, but I think we all need to remember the many lives lost during the Holocaust. Next, I began gathering pictures that showed Anne and her family, the Holocaust, and nature pictures. I also began writing a summary of the story without giving too much away. Finally, I began assembling the video by matching the words with the right picture. Last but not least, I found a song that matched the tone of the book. It is not meant to be your typical book trailer with a happy ending. I wanted to bring about awareness to everyone who may not have heard Anne's story. When I finally completed the video, I was pleasantly surprised how well it turned out with my little experience.
