To be honest, before taking this class, I had only heard of the word "WebQuest." I wasn't quite sure what it was, or how it helped the students. I love technology, but this was a first for me. Now, I am very excited that I have learned about another form of technology that can benefit students. Since this was the first one I have ever developed, it took a little longer. However, I am confident that the next WebQuest I create will be even easier.
Since I teach 3rd grade, I wanted to create a WebQuest that reflects my love for science. At my school, the upcoming third graders have had very little exposure to science concepts except for when it was integrated into reading/language arts. 3rd grade is the first year in which they have graded assignments and tests in science and social studies. It makes it very difficult for them to visualize and understand complex ideas such as the solar system. This project would be fantastic to use after students have been introduced to the basic elements such as the sun, planets, and moons. It is very easy to follow for youngsters and incorporates writing skills too! I hope your students enjoy it as much as I had fun making it!
